Chenega Agile Real-Time Solutions (CARS) was created with the purpose of providing integrated enterprise IT support to Federal customers both CONUS and OCONUS. CARS employs Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with decades of experience working in the Federal marketplace.

Chenega Agile Real-Time Solutions (CARS) is currently looking for a Software Engineer, Mid-Level to join our growing team in Gaithersburg, MD.


 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Provide technical leadership and deliver an innovative product, service, or a combination of products and services that address a customer's specific requirements in support of ESRI-based GIS systems.
  • Develop APIs for geospatial data ingest and transmission to external systems using open GIS standards.
  • Provide engineering design input, development, implementation, and sustainment of the mission requirements and enhance overall system security, performance, and availability.
  • Provide documentation of the tools and processes used to build and install the software in the production environment.
  • Provide regular system requirements and capabilities updates to the client, applying current industrial software development best practices that include iterative and incremental project management techniques and agile software development.
  • Interact with members of the technical team leads to understand the current system, subsystems, and component specifications and be able to use experience to recommend changes to facilitate efficient and effective development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
 
  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience OR
  • Associate degree and 6+ years of relevant experience OR
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated technical skills in data management and working knowledge of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS).
  • Experience with ArcGIS Server to create and manage GIS Web services, applications, and data.
  • Experience with GeoServer to share, process, and edit geospatial data.
  • Experience with Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards-based web services such as Web Map Service (WMS), Web Coverage Service (WCS), Web Feature Service (WFS), Web Processing Service (WPS), and Web Map Tile Service (WMTS).
  • Experience with scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python
    Support the Agile software development lifecycle following Program SAFe practices.
  • Experience with building front-end or back-end Java applications or Django Python
  • Experience with Java Frameworks (Spring, Hibernate) and RESTful web services.
  • Experience with JavaScript Frameworks and tools.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 
  • Ability to obtain CI Poly
  • Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting
  • Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
  • Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications
  • Experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone with good phone skills and a professional demeanor
  • Previous customer service experience strongly desired
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it
